French Boy vs. Geto Boys

Coco's childhood friend Antoine from Marsailles came to visit 2 weeks ago. We randomly met in a bathroom stall at Sway. Coco hadnt seen him since they were young children. She said puberty did him well.
At Santos Party House for Dunkz release party I had to fight all the flamers off him.

Cry Me a River

Ugh the rain today was a white wall. I got trapped in it more than once. Towards the end of the day on the way home from an adventure, Brandee and I got caught in the rain on Kenmare and Bowery after leaving an opening. It was pretty chill. We didn't know what else to do so we broke out the Blackberry until the waterfall calmed down. I haven't seen this heavy rain since last year (also see: Hurricane Hannah pics, below)

so now for... Hurricane Hannah RECAP!!
... almost an exact year ago today.. Kristin, Brandee, and I ran through the streets of downtown... we made the city our slip n sliiiiiide.
down kenmare... through soho...
"I THINK WE FOUND BECKY"
up bowery
droppin' in lit for a drink
the streets filled up with water.. it was deep in some parts.

mopping... doing my part to keep the streets clean.
through the park.
mcdonalds, like duh BECKY.. the cashier snapped this pic.

back at the crib.

Walking Into The Sun

I got back some film tonight. Heres some new work. Mostly summer. Im going to get the rest developed soon.
And if we doubt
We can hardly hope to shine
And the sun
Could eventually be outshone

Theres No Place Like Home (repeat x's 3)

Spent most of the day running errands.. dropped into Deitch to drop off something for Dash's memorial thingy (there was a lot of people.. and the way it was set up kinda made me feel weird) so I didn't stay very long...
and then went over to aNYthing to edit a video that Raf is helping me with. Oh man, its gonna look sick when we're done. Its kinda weird how most of the people I hangout with are affiliated with aNYthing in one way or another. Its not because its "cool" or "hip"... its just my breed of people... you know... a bunch of passionate smart mouthed bitches just trying to do their thang. It was really nice... by the end of the day... all my friends one by one showed up at the store and then we walked down to my crib and burnt down some l'z on my roof. And some sippy sippy on some tequila!

check out this sweet vid of seth peeing off my roof>>>

All in all, Im just really glad to be back.

Pola ROIIIIIDZ

from when nina was in town... and the hamburger eyes opening with alessandro... good times :)

SO Annoying

Man today was not my day at the airport. I got pestered by every security check until they finally just decided to go ahead and detain me in customs. Ughh. It made me feel really weird. I kept yelling "YOU WONT FIND DRUGS IN MY BAG!" and obnoxious stuff like "LET ME OPEN THE SHAMPOO BOTTLES FOR YOU SO YOU CAN SEE NOTHING IS IN THERE"... must have been the tye dye shirt amongst else.
i can honestly say theres no place like home.

PS

Congrats to Coco Young and everything she's doing right now. I have infinite respect for her. So young and so passionate about art, life, and everything she involves herself in. Richard Kern just shot her for next months American Playboy. Go hard or go home. <3

Coco is more then a friend and a modern day muse. Not only is she always there for me as a shoulder to lean on but she has this incredible knack for bringing me into places and situations that amplify my photography. As a photographer, I recently got featured in Johnnie Craigs newest project Huh Magazine, and when asked what Im currently inspired by this was my response, "Currently inspired by: Lee Friedlander, NYC, Batman, Kandinsky, Jimi Hendrix, Throbbing Gristle, Coco Young, and Madonna."

its true.

DAILY HOROSCOPE>> SCORPIO:
It's not easy for you to stay focused on what's going on now, for you may be holding on to an old dream. If someone confronts you about your current life strategy today, you are able to deflect the questions and avoid having to defend your goals. However, keep in mind that living in the past or the future doesn't leave you with much attention for the present.

How A Thought Can Catch The Breeze and Blow Away

I've been addicted to AC lately. That means 12 hour sleep sessions and groups of people huddled in my bedroom with the door closed. I think next apt I live in... I'd just like to move into a freezer. That'd be nice.

Currently uninspired. I'm bored as fuck... not to be confused with not busy. Just bored. Waiting for some checks to come in... I have probably close to 30 rolls of film of blurred nights Id like to see.

by "accident" my photograph was the only one they forgot to print, frame, hang, and list although i was on the flyer.
its cool... atleast i got to pick up a few copies of the magazine (which looks great) and got away with 2 bottles of tequila via my purse.
after whining on the corner of bowery and delancey... the wife met up to console me.. and private after party was at my spot. pump enough tequila in me and i waz lyke, "WAT SHOW?" I got 9 pages.. I shouldn't complain.. I was just super excited to see my work in a gallery. wahh wahhh.

My Rat is Cooler Than You

its true.

Hey Montreal!

The Vice Photo Show will open at the Emporium Gallery (3035 St. Antoine Ouest #74) on Thursday, July 16th from 7PM-11PM. The exhibition will also be open on Saturday, July 18th and Sunday, July 19th from 12PM-5PM.

About the Vice Photo Show Exhibition
Since 2002, Vice has published yearly photo issues that are definitive surveys of what's happening in contemporary photography. Responsible for popularizing the early work of some of today's most respected and imitated photographers, the Vice Photo Issue is, well straight up influential. In celebration of this year's issue, Vice is showcasing the work of Dana Goldstein and Jamie Taete; two emerging photographers that the magazine is fond of.

Vice Statement
"In honour of the 2009 Photo Issue, Vice is putting together two photo exhibitions in Montreal and Toronto to celebrate and supplement some of the new and founding talent we'll be featuring in this issue. Both shows will profile the work of two emerging and regular contributing photographers that we've become quite fond of— Dana Goldstein and Jamie Taete."

About Dana Goldstein
Dana Lauren Goldstein was born in Louisville, Kentucky. After receiving her BFA in photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design, she moved to New York City where she spent a year interning and assisting with eminent fashion photographer Kenneth Cappello. Dana’s work has since been exhibited all over the globe, and has shown with the Pulse Art Fair through the Saatchi Gallery,Tiny Vices, ITIWA, NOfound, Dazed Digital, and Puma. Her work has also appeared in the pages of i-D, Dazed and Confused, Vice, Bad Day, WAD, Intersection, QVest, and Sup among many others. Dana currently resides in lower Manhattan where she is pursuing a book which will be released later this year, and in her spare time she curates raging art parties that feature emerging artists and international talent.http://danalaurengoldstein.blogspot.com/

About Jamie Taete
Jamie Taete is a 24-year-old photographer from the exact center of England, whose general celebrity fixation runs so deep he legally changed his name to Jamie Lee Curtis Taete.Like most photographers we admire, Jamie seems able to seek out scenes that are beyond weird, yet they all seem to be happening just down the street from his apartment. His photos have appeared in publications such as Vice, Chief, and The Guardian. His work has also been featured in the Tiny Vices traveling exhibition in USA, Mexico, France, Britain, and Japan. He is currently a staff photographer and regular contributor to Vice UK, and he blogs at jamietaete.com. http://jamietaete.blogspot.com/

About Vice
Vice Magazine is the first free, internationally distributed lifestyle magazine in the history of civilization. Founded in Montreal, Quebec and now currently based in New York City, we've been constantly expanding our reach to global proportions. With 18 satellite offices located around the world, simultaneous monthly issues are published from Japan to Brazil to Holland to France and back, with our editions reflecting the latest news and opinions from smart and funny people on the ground in each of our territories. In other cultural sects, you can find us producing our own brand of films, books, dvds and records, as well as our wide-reaching online television network, VBS.tv. Some of Brandee's photographs I edited. Her work is really great. I edited them a little differently than I normally would. I think this work has a lot of artistic merit. Also check out her feature on.... LOLA and her stunna blog.

JAILBAIT CORE:::::: MEET THE BOYS

Its that time of year again.... instead of naked girls... Vice asked me to do sexy punkboys.... so here they are...... meet the boys!

Jasper aka Matt- (Capricorn) Jasper is a young runaway famous street muse. Photographed by everyone from Larry Clark to Patrick O'Dell. He lived with me for a few weeks on St. Marks. Total bad boy, thinks NYC is his playground. He's a sweet kid but after the last time he stayed with me and slashed my pumpkinheads I had to kick him out for good.

Matty- (Taurus) I met Matty through my friend Tanya when we were shooting a Converse spec. Totally awesome kid. Not punk at all but looks nice dressed up in studs.

Holton- (Pisces) Holton is my bestfriend and basically my roommate. He's not on the lease but spends so much time at my apartment I either refer to him as my roommate or my third house cat. His dad is a douchebag Chelsea artist who creates art that looks just like him. Girls and casting directors go crazy over him but he's not too much into that stuff these days. He's obsessed with philosophy and the 4th dimension.

Ian- (Aries) Ian is the most beautiful boy I know. I could stare at him for hours on end and not blink an eye. All my girlfriends blush and giggle when they see him. To add the cherry ontop, he's uber sweet... super smart, and a totally talented graphic designer studying under Eric Elms. I met Ian when I lived on St. Marks through my friend Johnnie and have been friends ever since.
Wojtek- (Virgo) Wojtek is a hottie I know from my college days. He's originally from D.C (so he's down with all the good Dischord punk music) and although he looks like a pretty boy... he definitely has a punk side to him. He just moved back from Milan and although we both run busy schedules, its really nice to have him around again. He has the brains and the looks.
Suvi- (Libra) Suvi is these sweet squatter kid that hangs around St. Marks. I haven't seen him in awhile.. maybe he went back to Philly where he's originally from.. but he's awesome. One night last spring, we were all hanging out in the church yard off 1st Avenue where all the punk kids congregate. It was just as all the flowers were in bloom so I asked Suvi if he would climb up in the tree and pose for a picture. The shot was heavily inspired by Wolfgang Tillmans.

David- (Gemini) David was one of the first friends I made in New York. He's the real deal. A cute and sexy punk boy living in Brooklyn who is also a very talented photographer. Amy asked for a shot of a boy with a leather jacket with his booty sticking out. David is always down for anything. He's the one.

Memory Lane

a bunch of pics i found on my laptop that made me smile

Can't Decide- Black Flag

Sun's coming up and I can't decide To spill my emotions or keep them inside Go for a drive, go to the store I'm looking for something that can't be bought there I always wear a smile Because anything but a smile would make me have to explain And they wouldn't understand anyway I conceal my feelings so I won't have to explain What I can't explain anyway I can't decide I can't decide I can't decide anything I can't decide I can't decide I can't decide anything Every time I open my mouth I always wish I had kept it shut I gotta spill my guts - but I don't dare I take a look around, I know that no one else cares Sun's coming up and I can't decide To spill my emotions or keep them inside Go for a drive, go to the store I'm looking for something that can't be bought there I always wear a smile Because anything but a smile would make me have to explain And they wouldn't understand anyway I conceal my feelings so I won't have to explain What I can't explain anyway I can't decide I can't decide I can't decide anything.

so many black flag songs so simply sum up my life. my favorite song by them changes with my mood. "...fuck you, whatever."

Daily Horoscopes

todays horoscope for July 7, 2009:

SCORPIO youre a drunk piece of shit. It doesnt neccessarily mean youre an alcoholic, it just means you're bored and need to not drink so much and not eat before hand. Career and socially youre where you wanna be, (congrats on mastering Cyber Duck... quack quack! and getting rid of all those negative ppl in your life) even though your feet probably hate you from walking blocks on end in stilettos. Maybe you should contemplate not picking up your blackberry when youre drunk and cleaning the vomit off the floor. Stop trying to act so tuff, because everyone knows youre a huge softy at heart. You have a lot to learn young Scorpio, no frets bc you're a quick learner and life is good. Keep drinking that gatorade and that hangover will be gone in no time... now get to work!

Some Pics From Yesterday

Some weird sexual stuff going on with my bike right here
we said don't move. when we came back, they were gone. 20 minutes later they ran up to us with bloody faces and ripped clothes saying, "we gotta go.. the city is after us"
we tried to flee to pierres spot on the bowery... but before we could leave... 7 cop cars rolled up.
coco and I were running down houston trying to bang on the cop cars but it was too late. our friends were gone :(

You Got Sirens For A Welcome

Sunday is always adventure day. Today was rather exciting. I watched a Vogue model flip off a moving car on Houston, was taken out for dinner (gangsta styleeee), and then watched my friends getting escorted away by 6 cop cars (originally 4 but another 2 showed up at the end) and a paddy wagon.

The Conversations With Distinguished Gentlemen: Outtakes

I shot this image last December in Miami. My friend Katrina who lives there was awesome and showed us around the week we were there. She worked Scope.. and this was the Friends With You bounce.
Katrina is a wild woman and thats why I love her... here are some pictures from the first time we met (I was driving and taking pics). Johnnie, Margaret, and I drove to Athens to pick her up. This is what we call Ghost Ridin' The Whip... kids please do not try this at home!

(old personal work)

Highway 1-16 S

I guess you could say it was a pretty interesting night. I liked Katrina from the moment I met her.

Meh

Running through discs and drives for my big show in Toronto next month with Mr. Jamie Taete. Found these pics I took of my sister, Wendy a few years ago right outside of Beaufort. Makes me sad. I really miss her.. I really miss my family in general. We're all spread so far apart....
